Mnica says 'be in my office at 12 -- we're going to the ORI to find out where you can see a dermotologist because your precious-must-have-to-come-to-Spain insurance doesn't work' fine. I woke up at 9, had my croissant, orange juice, pills, and napped until 11:30. Shower. In Mnica's office, she had me waiting because she became everyone's personal slave until 1:30ish. At which point, I returned to my room for a quick 30 minute nap. She summons me. I appear in a flash of light, and we zoom (and I mean that) into the city.
In the ORI... I'm wearing sunglasses to hide my hideousness. Eva says 'Hi Nur. You must be here to pick up your money... how're you?" Eva then recoils in shocked horror when I remove my sunglasses and I think we had to get the smelling salts... at that point no one noticed how red I was from blushing because I look like cra double-p y p double-o p (did you get that?) Eva says 'well, hmmm, you need to see another doctor -- and I swear, I know I told her in Spanish AND English that I need to see a dermotologist. She sends me to the nursing school to see the dean (who's office is in a VERY large hospital. Nur = impressed by this, because I don't want no teenyweenyitsybistyshort hospital-hospital again. So he says 'come around 4pm -- it'll be a free exam bla-bla-bla.'
M and I head to the post office, ACROSS TOWN BY FOOT because Spaniards believe in parking spaces... whatever. We get back to her car, and it's off to her house for a rip-roarin good meal cooked by MommyMnica. Two types of REALLY good fried fish, boiled potatoes, tortilla espaola, Portuguese rolls, and salad. Dessert: Cherries. Mmmmm. The basics are the best sometimes.
I help Alejandro (M's lil bro) with a computer game, and it's off to the hospital. Or shall I say 'where Nur becomes a test subject' and I've become the disagnostic focus of about 14 doctors all surrounding me, poking my skin, pulling off my clothes and talking so fast in Spanish and using medical terms that I've never understood in English, let alone Spanish. So I have allergies to Spain compounded by stress.
.oO(But Nur, if you're allergic to Spain, why NOW after 10 months of living here?) Good question! It's now spring in Spain. I live in the 'country' which means *NEW* *STRANGE* *PLANTLIFE* playing in a breeze near you! It's all so fascinating, donchaknow.
So new prescription in hand, I have paid 13 and something-cent for new pills (don't mix pills, throw them out! -- oh good, I didn't need that 4 package of pills that I just bought and only took ONE pill anyway) and cream for my body.
BACK TO RESA
Leah and Verena wanna know details. I'm tired. My meds are now making me cranky and tired. I sleep for hours.
Wade has abandoned us for the city so he doesn't have to take a taxi/or whatever to get down on Saturday. Smart, but that leaves Leah and I high-and-dry. Uncool, Wade. I even asked him NOT to go so we could all go down together and get a cheaper fare. Wade dice: See ya later, loosas! And away he goes in his little green bus.
I suppose luck is on my side, tho. Carla 'Ardilla Loca' and Sefano 'Vegitaliano' are going tomorrow too. So all 4 of us in the taxi works out. LUCKY WADE. That's all I can say.
Leah made dinner for us tonight: SUPERB shrimp and garliccheese pasta. I think I died and went to culinary heaven. It was good.
Since Mnica's brother, the sexy Madrid cop, Alfredo 'Freddy' Costas, loaned it to me, we then watched Artificial Intelligence in Spanish (( In English, it's A.I. -- so in Spanish ... it's I.A. -- love it! )) and I cried, as always. Leah liked it lots, but she was very disturbed by the moralilty of the Mecha vs. Orga -- Enter Isaac Asimov with his book I, Robot. Read. Enjoy. I personally love Robby's story. SIDEBAR: Did you know the song The Reunion in the A.I. soundtrack is a really good song. I love pianos!
Saturday (which is now upon us) is CANGAS day. I have great plans. However, I must take great care to protect my skin, as the sun shall exasserbate my allergies, as noted by Mnica's dad.
That aside. I'd like to put a plug for my friend Alison's LiveJournal. It's really healing in a webpage of humor. Her friends have their own pages too and man oh man are they gay .. I mean, funny, I mean, comical. Whatever.
Verena spends Saturday by herself STUDYING. I tried to get her to come with ... but she's a lil studious soldier. You go grrl! You go!
The Blogs and I are also looking forward to Sunday's Chat-o-Thon with Yas and Tom. FUN-o-freakin-rama! (that one goes out to Laura W -- wherever she may be -- graduated, I think!)
